Yes. Grass-fed tallow is one of the most bio-compatible moisturizers available because its fatty acids closely match human sebum. It supports the skin barrier, delivers fat-soluble vitamins, and is generally well tolerated by sensitive and eczema-prone skin.

Many cattle start on pasture and are finished on grain in a feedlot before slaughter. 'Grass-finished' (or 'grass-fed and finished') means the animal ate only grass and forage its entire life. That distinction dramatically changes the fatty-acid profile and vitamin content of the resulting tallow.

For most people, no. Tallow is rated low on the comedogenic scale because its lipid structure mirrors what your skin already produces. People with very oily or acne-prone skin should patch test first.

Jojoba is technically a liquid plant wax, not a polyunsaturated seed oil. Unlike sunflower, safflower, or canola oils, jojoba is stable, doesn't oxidize easily, and has a structure your skin recognizes. We avoid inflammatory seed oils — jojoba is a different category entirely.

Coconut oil is rated moderately comedogenic on facial skin, but underarm skin behaves differently. We've formulated our deodorant balm so that coconut oil supports glide and antibacterial action without dominating the formula.

Baking soda has a pH around 9, far higher than skin's natural pH of 5–5.5. That mismatch is what causes the rashes and burns many people get from natural deodorants. Arrowroot is pH-neutral, absorbs moisture just as well, and is gentle enough for sensitive underarms.

No. Arrowroot is a whole-plant root powder, while cornstarch is industrially processed from corn. Arrowroot is finer, less likely to clump, and not associated with the same allergen and GMO concerns.

Yes. Magnesium hydroxide is the active ingredient in milk of magnesia and has been used safely for over a century. In deodorant it neutralizes odor by raising pH at the skin's surface enough to disrupt odor-causing bacteria, without blocking sweat glands or absorbing into the body the way aluminum compounds do.

Aluminum compounds (in antiperspirants) physically plug sweat glands to stop perspiration. Magnesium hydroxide lets you sweat normally and simply neutralizes the odor caused by bacteria. One blocks a natural process; the other works with it.

Yes — for most people. Petroleum (in products like Vaseline and most drugstore lip balms) seals the surface without delivering anything nourishing underneath. Beeswax seals AND breathes, and pairs with tallow to actually heal chapped lips rather than just coat them.
