How to apply

Four steps. About thirty seconds.

Our deodorant is a soft, finger-applied balm — no stick, no twist-up, no beeswax. Treat it more like a moisturizer than a traditional deodorant and you'll get the best results.

Scoop a pea-sized amount
With a clean fingertip, scoop a pea-sized dab from the jar. One scoop covers one underarm — resist the urge to use more.

Warm it between your fingertips
Rub the balm between your thumb and two fingers for 3–5 seconds. Body heat softens the tallow so it spreads thin and even.

Massage into clean, dry pits
Massage in small circles across the whole underarm until it disappears. No white residue, no waxy film. Repeat on the other side.

Let it absorb for 60 seconds
Give it about a minute before pulling on a shirt. Tallow sinks in fast, but a short pause keeps your favorite tee tallow-free.

Pro tips from our customers

Apply after a shower, not before. Pits should be clean and fully dry — moisture dilutes the formula.
Once a day is enough. Most people apply in the morning and stay protected through the evening.
Switching from antiperspirant? Expect a 1–2 week transition. Stick with it — your body recalibrates fast.

100% grass-fed and finished beef tallow, organic cold-pressed unrefined coconut oil, organic arrowroot powder, and magnesium hydroxide. Nothing else — no aluminum, no baking soda, no beeswax, no seed oils, no synthetic fragrance.

Grass-fed and finished beef tallow: The base and the conditioning. A stable saturated fat whose profile sits close to human sebum, with a melt point high enough to hold a whipped texture through a Texas summer.
Organic cold-pressed unrefined coconut oil: Softens the whip so a fingertip scoops it easily and it spreads thin instead of dragging.

Does tallow deodorant actually work?

It controls odor, which is what a deodorant is for. Magnesium hydroxide makes the skin surface less friendly to the bacteria that turn sweat into smell, and organic arrowroot powder absorbs surface moisture. Most people apply once in the morning and stay fresh through the day, even in Texas heat.

Is it a deodorant or an antiperspirant?

A deodorant. It contains no aluminum salts, so it does not reduce how much you sweat — only aluminum-based antiperspirants do that, and in the United States those are regulated as over-the-counter drugs. You will sweat normally while wearing ours; you just won't smell like it.

How do you apply it? Is it a stick?

It isn't a twist-up stick — it's a soft, whipped balm in a jar that you scoop with clean fingertips and massage into your underarms. A stick would need beeswax to hold its shape, and skipping that is how we keep the formula at four ingredients. A pea-sized amount per underarm is plenty.

Expect to notice more wetness for the first one to two weeks, since nothing in a deodorant reduces perspiration. Odor typically settles into a predictable pattern with consistent daily use. We don't describe this as a detox, because that isn't what's happening — you're simply feeling your normal baseline sweat again.

Is it baking-soda free? Beeswax free?

Yes to both. Many natural deodorants use baking soda, which is strongly alkaline while skin's surface is naturally slightly acidic — the most common reason people find natural deodorant uncomfortable. We use magnesium hydroxide instead, and no beeswax, so the balm stays soft and finger-applied.
