Waterless Moisturizer Made with Tallow
A waterless — or anhydrous — moisturizer contains no water, so it's concentrated and needs no emulsifiers or preservatives. Ours is made with tallow.

0% water
Anhydrous formula.
No emulsifiers
Nothing to bind oil and water.
No preservatives
Not needed without water.
Concentrated
Use less per application.
What does waterless mean?
Most lotions and creams are emulsions — water and oil blended with emulsifiers. Because water can support microbial growth, they also need preservatives. A waterless (anhydrous) moisturizer is just oils, fats, butters, or waxes, with no water at all.
That changes how you use it. There's nothing to evaporate, so a small amount covers more skin and stays longer. Applying it to damp skin helps lock in the water that's already there.
Our waterless formula
Lone Star whipped tallow lotion is grass-fed and finished tallow and organic jojoba. With no water, there's no need for emulsifiers or preservatives — so the ingredient list stays at two.
Waterless doesn't mean water-based products are bad. They're lighter and many people prefer them. Waterless is simply more concentrated.
Ingredients
The full lotion formula — two ingredients
- 1
100% grass-fed & finished beef tallow
A rich, waterless fat that moisturizes and helps reduce moisture loss.
- 2
Organic cold-pressed jojoba
Technically a liquid wax ester, not a seed oil in the usual sense. Lightens the whip and helps it glide.
No water, no emulsifiers, no preservatives, no seed oils. Our unscented lotion has no added fragrance or essential oils; scented versions are sold separately and clearly labeled. Read about every ingredient.

Waterless vs. water-based
- Texture
- Waterless: richer. Water-based: lighter, faster-drying.
- Ingredients
- Waterless: usually fewer. Water-based: needs emulsifiers and preservatives.
- Best applied
- Waterless: to damp skin. Water-based: any time.
How to use a waterless moisturizer
- Start with a pea-sized amount — less than you'd use of a water-based lotion.
- Warm it between your palms for a few seconds until it softens.
- Press and smooth it into skin, ideally while skin is still slightly damp after a shower.
- Give it a minute or two to absorb before dressing.
- Add more only to areas that still feel dry.
